Swimming and water exercise are some of the gentlest ways to stay active, ease joint pain, and build strength. But for many people, getting into the pool is the hardest part. Ladders and steps require balance, grip strength, and leg power that not everyone has. A pool lift removes that barrier.
Who Benefits From a Pool Lift?
- Wheelchair users who transfer from their chair to the lift seat and lower into the water.
- Seniors with balance concerns or arthritis who find ladders unsafe.
- People recovering from surgery or injury who use the water for therapy.
- Anyone with limited strength or endurance who still wants to enjoy the pool.
How It Works
The user sits in the lift seat on the deck and fastens the seat belt. The lift then rotates out over the water and lowers the seat until the user can float free. To get out, the process simply reverses. Most lifts are battery powered and can be operated from the seat or by a helper.
The Benefits Go Beyond Access
- Safety: fewer slips and falls on wet steps and ladders.
- Independence: many users can enter the pool without being lifted by another person.
- Inclusion: families can swim together, and facilities can welcome every guest.
- Health: easier access means more people can benefit from low-impact water exercise.
